EXT. PRAIRIE - DAWN

Looking east over a small city in the prairie, we start to see the first light of dawn on the flat horizon. At the western edge of town, a suburban neighborhood, houses end abruptly and the prairie takes over.

The camera spins and starts moving west, floating through tall green grass. In the distance the prairie breaks into foothills and then a full on mountain range, still purple in the morning light.

The CRUNCH of gravel reveals a lone figure winding his way through the grass walking his bike among the rolling hills. His hood is hiding his face, but the white wire from his headphones bounces freely with his movements.

The boy crests a small ridge and sees something half buried in the dirt below: an old box TELEVISION maybe circa 1990s. Abandoned, dust-covered, blank screen.

As the orchestral swell rises, the sun breaks the horizon and catches the TV screen. For a moment, it GLOWS, scattering light like a lantern.

The face of the boy, RIDER, lights up in expression and from the glow. He stares, transfixed, and without blinking sets his bike down ...

... the bike, an old BMX bike with a ragged basket attached, carries an old tattered kite - a treasure from the prairie.

As Rider comes back to a stand the glow fades as the music ebbs away. Only the sounds of a light breeze and the buzz of insects remain. He finally blinks and shakes his head as he pulls out his IPHONE - early 2010s era. He opens it and types out a text. The WHOOSH of the text sends us to ...

INT. BEDROOM - DAWN

Another iPhone vibrates on a nightstand as the wind of the prairie abruptly becomes the hum of a ceiling fan.

CASEY blinks his eyes open and slowly stirs to life. Morning light floods the room as he stretches and sighs, reaching for the phone. We see the text from Rider:

Found something to do today. Meet at splendor park.

Casey's eyes light up. He jumps out of bed, grabs his IPOD and scrolls to ...
